7. the PRINTING

With the signed copyright usage license. I strongly recommend using my suggested print laboratory. Please read below for all my printing details and policies:

WHERE TO PRINT

Through a private online gallery link (this comes with your final photos) you have the opportunity to print through a custom-calibrated digital print laboratory that is available to the public. They have an extensive product line, fast shipping, and because they are the sister company to my own Professional Photo Laboratory, their quality is consistently outstanding. Their prices are competitive, too! I’m not affiliated with this company in any way; I’ve simply  been doing this for several years, I know what to look for, and it’s very important to me that the images I’ve created for you look stunning on your walls. For example, as a test, I ordered the same print from the custom lab, Costco, and Wal-Mart. As you may be able to see, my laboratory had the best paper, print, and color quality BY FAR. Of course, these are photographs of photos but you can clearly see the color differences:

  • Wal-Mart – paper is very thin and color was VERY magenta.  I ordered the same print in two different sizes at the same time and even those two demonstrated extreme inconsistencies in color. Paper is thin and warps easily.
  • Costco – defaulted to glossy paper which shows fingerprints; color was muddy and showed extra shadows that aren’t supposed to be there. There was also a white spot where ink did not print.

RESOLUTION, ENLARGEMENTS, & FILE FORMAT

These are 300 dpi high-resolution images and you can print them in almost any size. All of your files are JPEG files. Per the contract you signed, acknowledging my policies, terms and conditions, photos may not be altered in any way shape or form (this includes using any digital editing software to convert a color file to a black and white file). Before ordering large prints from somewhere outside of my recommendations, it is a good idea to have a 4×6 printed there to make sure their colors are desirable. Do NOT let labs auto-color correct your prints ever!

BACK IT UP

Make copies of your USB. Store one in a safety deposit box. I can’t guarantee the ability to replace USB or damaged files. Your final, ordered images are backed-up by me for a period of six (6) months.

COPYRIGHT

Included in your USB is the license agreement for these images. To summarize, you are authorized to make unlimited copies of all images for personal use only. You may not sell the rights to these images or profit in any way, which includes using these images in any form for photo contests. All images are registered to Brittney Kluse Photography and protected by copyright law.

FRAMING

If you frame a print behind glass ALWAYS be sure to mat it or else it will stick to the glass. Or, for an even better look, remove the glass from the frame completely so the art print shines through in a more artist way of displaying the print. Contact me for suggested framing companies to use!

CROPPING

I would recommend AGAINST cropping these images on your computer and instead, use printer services to crop your images for the correct print size. When going from a 4×6 to an 8×10, it is inevitable that you’re going to lose some parts of the image (see diagram below).  Pay close attention to the crop/preview tools before ordering to ensure important parts are not cut off. The same is true for gallery wrap canvases: parts of the image MUST wrap around the frame. This can be very tricky sometimes, so I recommend you order gallery wraps from me so I can do whatever is necessary to create a wrap that will look good for that image.

CUSTOM PRINTING

If you would like me to handle the printing for you or would like a custom linen art print, gallery-wrapped canvas, thin-wrap, standout, flush-mount album, or other product. Please e-mail me (brittney@brittneykluse.com) and I can provide you with direct quotes and more specific information based on the product you would like.

PRINT LIABILITY

I have provided you with the highest quality images possible and cropped and colored them how I believe they will print the best.  Some images (particularly those shot in low light) may have visible digital noise when enlarged too much. This is normal, but may not be aesthetic. In those cases, black and white might be a better option. AS ALWAYS, Do NOT let labs auto-color correct your prints! When printed, your images may not match what you see on your computer screen if your monitor is not professionally calibrated.  I am not responsible for printing errors or for quality of prints/products not printed directly by me.
